cumulus is a shared practice-in-formation, rooted in desire to work at the intersection of architecture, art, and spatial storytelling. we approach space as a medium of memory, resistance, and imagination—capable of holding both the weight of history and the possibility of change. what brings us together is a mutual commitment to spatial experimentation and a belief that design should not only respond to context but provoke new ones.

our work draws from diverse yet complementary trajectories. bahar’s practice stems from scenography, installation, and exhibition-making-translating narratives into tactile, emotional, and political environments. baran brings an urbanist's lens to spatial design, one that foregrounds collective experience, bottom-up strategies, and critical engagement with public space. together, we operate across scales, from the intimately constructed to the urban and environmental, from the speculative to the deeply situated.

we are especially drawn to projects that are unfinished, participatory, and unstable —projects that evolve through use, collaboration, and reinterpretation. we are interested in the afterlives of architecture, in traces and rituals, and in how people inhabit and transform spaces over time.

in all our work, we aim to center marginalized narratives, activate overlooked materials, and question dominant spatial logic. whether we are responding to an urban condition, designing a temporary installation, or imagining a future that doesn’t yet exist, we hold onto the idea that space is not static—it is relational and performative.
